Beyond The Byre & Company - A New Home in Hexham, Northumberland

Hi, we are Carolyn and David Asquith, we have recently relocated to the historic town of Hexham, Northumberland. Hexham is a bustling town, with a growing number of independent shops spreading amongst its quaint streets and historic buildings.

We began our handmade jewellery journey in March 2020, working from home from our dining room table. In September 2021 we moved into our purpose built studio, lovingly nicknamed the "Shed", and in July 2026 we moved into a wonderful 3rd floor studio above our first shop, overlooking busy Battle Hill in Hexham.

We have learnt so much on this creative journey, not only about making jewellery, but also about trading, markets, accounting, marketing, social media and organisation. With 4 years of Blanchland Artisan markets under our belt, we were delighted when the opportunity came to open our own shop, and invite lots of our creative colleagues to join us.

Our very own bricks and mortar shop is Beyond The Byre & Company, 6 Battle Hill Hexham.

Our Artisan Emporium is full of fabulous locally-made handcrafted work created by very talented individuals. You will find either David or myself behind the desk, the other will be making and creating on the 3rd floor.  

As we settle into our new routines and say goodbye to markets and events for the time being, we look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful shop, our very own Artisan Emporium. You will probably be greeted by our loyal Meet & Greet @HarryofNorthumberland, our adorable Cocker Spaniel.
